War Child is deeply committed to empowering mothers affected by conflict and displacement—recognizing that when mothers thrive, families and communities thrive. Our programming supports mothers as caregivers, earners, and rights-holders, helping them overcome the unique challenges they face in conflict-affected settings.
More than 60 million women have been forced to flee their homes, as refugees or internally displaced people, and War Child is on the ground in post- and current conflict zones offering support for mothers. We help them finish their education, train in business skills, and develop tools they can use to build hope for their children, families, and communities.
Honor a mother you love with the purchase of an Ecard and join our mission to support Moms in post- and current conflict zones.
Your generous gift can help them catch up on their education and develop business skills they need to help themselves, their families and communities.
War Child provides psychosocial support, maternal health care and referrals, and safe spaces for children in Afghanistan and radio-based learning for children so their mothers face less fear as they go to school in the Congo. In South Sudan and Uganda, we offer accelerated learning programs for mothers to return to school, care for their children, and invaluable skills training and resources to start small businesses so mothers can better care for their families.
As mothers earn income, they are better able to support their families by addressing basic needs such as food, education, and medical care.
A Mother's Hope. A Child's Future.
👩👧 Parenting and Psychosocial Support
We provide trauma-informed parenting programs and psychosocial services to help mothers manage stress, strengthen their relationships with their children, and build emotional resilience in the face of adversity.
📚 Education and Literacy
Many mothers in the communities we serve were denied access to education. Through adult literacy and life skills programs, we give mothers the tools they need to support their children’s learning and advocate for their rights.
💼 Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
War Child supports mothers with vocational training, small business support, and access to savings and loan groups—helping them build economic independence and provide for their families.
⚖️ Protection
We work to uphold mothers’ rights and safety, both within the home and in their broader communities.
